low pressure die casting die design (lpdc)
Low pressure die casting process: Die is mounted on top of the Melting furnace and less than an atmospheric pressure is applied on top of molten metal inside a furnace to fill the cavity. Axis symmetric castings are filled with ease. The casting weight to total shot weight ratio is very very high. We can get a yield above 90%. Another advantage is the intricate internal shape of the castings can be cast with sand cores, shell cores. The typical application is 4 wheeler wheel drums. Other box type castings can also be suited for multi-cavity dies. Refer "Hourly Charges" for learning this course online.
